All dates are not created equal

Five years ago today, Samantha and I embarked on our journey together. Somewhere along the way, we decided to add “until death do us part” to the mix, but our friends say we were an old married couple long before we our civil ceremony two years ago. So when the word “Anniversary” appears on my calendar, I often think back to the first of October 2003 instead of 2006.

Our trip to Martin this weekend will take us back to some familiar sights and sounds from that stage in our lives. While not all of it will be spent on a stroll down memory lane, I am looking forward to reveling a bit in it. While our jobs and surroundings have changed, there is that one aspect that always stays familiar no matter the circumstance: the concept of “us.”

Here is to many more years and all that life has to offer.
