I really should have learned my lesson after my trip to the zoo. This time I did not get the advance warning of watching a school bus pull up in front of the Parthenon at Centennial Park; the third graders all just appeared out of nowhere. I guess it says something that I am spending [...]

The Maker

Samantha and I went to a church group meeting tonight at a co-worker’s home. While we do not go to the same church as the others in attendance, it is clear to see that communities of faith can share the same core message regardless of denominational lines.
The evening’s reading was from the book of Exodus, [...]

We took a leisurely walk around Moss-Wright Park this afternoon for the first time in the over a year we have lived a short drive from it. It is one the nicer municipal parks in the area.
As a side note, I am still taking suggestions for the third installment of Friday Off. I have to [...]

We are heading to UT Martin’s homecoming game in early October. While watching a Skyhawk football game is reason enough for the trip, I have some other matters to tend to while in town. The plan is to rent a car to make the 200 mile trip so we can test drive one of our [...]

As a young couple in our mid-20s, high on our life’s to-do list is purchasing our first home. I have always wondered exactly how property taxes work in Tennessee, so I did a bit of digging and came up with a few answers. I am posting them here if anyone else has had similar questions, [...]

Mostly on a whim, I decided to spend my Friday off at the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere. It is fairly long drive from Goodlettsville to the south side of town off of Nolensville Pike. I took our camera with me because I cannot recall the last time I attempted nature photography. That, and I needed [...]

Signing on

Since social media is ubiquitous in the world around us these days, it is good to see that companies are finally learning how to work together. I am really impressed with the latest update to Adium (an open-source Mac messaging client) because it added support for Facebook. I may actually start using instant messaging again.

That block on the right side of my Web site keeps a running tab of what is currently pumping through my headphones. Granted, I may not actually be there to listen as I often forget to pause iTunes before I leave the apartment in the morning. There is a small plugin I wrote to get [...]
