I have always wondered why August is left out when it comes to traditional holidays. August is also when the Tennessee weather makes you long for cooler days with the heat index consistently pushing into the upper nineties and beyond. The occasional afternoon thunderstorm pops up out of nowhere, but few last longer than a couple of hours.

School zones will be enforced again starting on Monday, so I need to adjust my morning routine up by 10 minutes or so. I have had a lot going on at work, and I am sure my wife is growing tired of my daily updates. It seems to be where all of our conversations inevitably turn to for the last week.

I turn 25 this month. By most measures of society, this is the last half-decade milestone before social security (supposedly) will kick in. While I am not one to measure against most societal barometers, I am reasonably pleased with how much I have accomplished by this point down life’s road. No two people have the same goals and aspirations. My goals are unique, as are those I mutually share with my wife. One person’s goal to achieve by 32 is another one’s to achieve by 22 or not at all. It is all good.

At least, that is what my inner pep-talk sounds like.
