Taking a look at my desk, I realized that it has been a while since I last closely examined my surroundings. I have been putting off cleaning the office for a while, so maybe this will provide a bit of spark.

  • Spray Bottle of Febreze - I have no idea how this came to be here or for what it was intended.
  • Thinking of You Card - From Samantha, with one penguin resting its head on the another's shoulder.
  • Nashville Predators Stickers - We got these at a "Chill Out" party at O'Charley's. I have yet to stick them.
  • Small Note Pad from Trillium Construction Services - It is like a miniature reporter's notebook. I found it walking around our complex.
  • Another Random Notepad - I am sure this was used for something.
  • Letter Holder - Holds the two notepads and the Predators stickers.
  • CD Case - Mostly Samantha's mix CDs. There are a few random junk software titles in it too.
  • Coke Caps - Unholy number of caps filling two cups and a koozy from our dentist's office. I should either enter them or admit defeat.
  • CD-R Spindle - We go through one of these every so often for CDs for the car or backups.
  • iPod mini - Like most people, I have one that I rarely get the chance to use, although more often lately.
  • Printer Stand - The stand was probably not meant for a printer (a bit flimsy), but it holds up well.
  • Multi-function Printer - This thing is starting to make strange noises and grab too many sheets of paper. It is not that old.
  • Flash Media Reader - I use it mostly to get pictures off of my phone and our camera.
  • SigEp Pad Folio - Picked it up at Conclave here in Nashville in 2005. Has a few random Alumni Volunteer Corporation documents in it.
  • Poster from Gibson Guitars - This room does not have a particular decor, but I do not think this would fit it anyway. It came with Samantha's guitar.
  • Newsletter from Nashville Electric Service - Came with the bill. As much as they are asking for, it should have come with a lot more than a stinking newsletter.
  • Penguin Letter Holder - My wife says I have a soft spot for birds.
  • Framed Fraternity Bid - One of my many pieces of "proof" that I did more in college than work at a newspaper and sometimes go to class.
  • Random Print Out from Amazon - The third page and unneeded of a return packing slip. I sent some books back after realizing they were not that great of a gift idea.
  • Coupons from MasterCard - Begging us to actually carry a balance for 30 days. Anyone need discounts from Best Buy, Cold Stone Creamer or 1-800 Flowers?
  • Mac mini and FireWire Drive - I am still mad at this computer/drive for eating my backups in December.
  • 17" CRT Monitor - This thing weights five times more than my computer and is about twice as old.
  • Ages of Empires III - One of only two games I have for the Mac. A quick way to zone out for an hour.
  • Desk Telephone - We do not use it much and would probably never answer it if we could get away with it. I sometimes miss my old one.
  • FireWire Cable - Spare cable for the drive attached to my computer.
  • Mac Remote - My computer is too old to use it, and Samantha is yet to miss it from her work computer.
  • Stereo Headphones - I do not have speakers on the computer, and I think I prefer to listen to music this way anyway.
  • Cell Phone - I had been exchanging text messages with my friends attending law school over the Georgia/Tennessee border dispute earlier this evening.
  • CD Holder Lamp - I have The Sims 2 in it, along with CDs from Frank Sinatra and Jimmy Buffett. There's also a Regina Spektor in there because we never put it in Samantha's CD case.
  • Ink Pen - Handy for writing on the notepads.
  • Tea Glass - I am out of sweet tea again.

My desk is not that large, but I think it has way too much stuff on it.
