On my desk

A water bottle. We seem to be drinking a lot of water lately, and Cokes are actually not the only thing I drink all day. I’m sure this improves my health. There’s only one bottle, but I count three caps sitting around.

A 3-hole punch. Oddly enough, I use the one at the office more often than this one. I can’t think of the last time I had to put something in a binder here.

Collection of old computer games. Mostly strategy and sports sims. I’ve never really had a computer that could play any of them without dropping frames. The strategy games usually do much better, though. None of them are Mac compatible, which means their useful life may come to an abrupt end, if it hasn’t already.

Unlabeled CDs and other software. I should probably sort through them, as I am looking for old files to complete my senior seminar portfolio. I really need the last nine or so issues of 2003-04.

Two books. “PHP/MySQL for the Absolute Beginner” and “The Zen of CSS Design.” I quit buying programming books after I splurged on a couple for the first incarnation of Macromedia UltraDev. This one is actually borrowed from my dad, and isn’t that impressive. Samantha’s CSS book, however, has been very useful.

Tape recorder. I used it for Voice and Diction last semester to check my tapes before turning them in. It’s good to have one sitting around anyway, I suppose. Doesn’t the President have a few of these on his desk too?

A lamp with a CD rack. It’s empty, and only has one of two bulbs in it. I took the second out so I could work over here at night and it not be too distracting.

Magnetic dart board. It’s a drinking game set I got for Christmas from my younger of my two sisters. It seems to be a rucurring theme to get me things like this, but I hardly ever put them to use.

Old Navy penguin letter holder. A gift from Christmas 2004 from the older of my two sisters. It’s a bobble head.

My résumé. An old copy edited by some guy from the Washington Post at the last Southeast Journalism Conference in Ruston, La. I found it Monday, and remembered I need to start working on getting it updated.

Box of papers. Samantha’s got a lot of stuff she wants to file. This is a collection of some of that stuff. I won’t go through it, but it looks like pay stubs and bank statements.

  1. Samantha says:

Yeah, sorry about that. Thanks for offering to share your filing cabinet, though.
