Samantha and I are pleased to announce our engagement and upcoming marriage. This is not a test. For those of you who know us well, we are very atypical and non-traditional to a fault. We had hoped this announcement would come at a happier time, but the “official” proposal happened Dec. 4, 2005. We embargoed the information from our respective families until the holidays.

One ring to ...

Our friends here in Martin and literally all over the world are learning of our engagement either on this site or Samantha‘s. We’ll tell anyone else who doesn’t frequent these sites when we get back in classes later this month. Here’s the rundown:

How it Happened
A “some day” and an “after graduation” conversation crossed paths. The words, “Did I just propose to you?” might have been said. A week later, we were ring shopping in Jackson. The photo is of said ring.

When & Where
September 30, 2007. Yes, that’s 2007. We want to concentrate on graduating and finding jobs before we get too wrapped up in wedding planning. Updates will be listed here.

About the ‘Big Day’
We are hoping for a simple, inexpensive ceremony with family and friends and a reception following. The plan had originally been to elope “whenever we get around to it” but when the subject became more real we decided we want to include family and friends, but to keep it short because we are most definitely shy, private people.

I Object!
Tough luck, but you are welcome to leave well-wishes in the comments section. Or tips. Or random comments. You’re writing it after all.

I really need to get out more! Here it is darn near April and I am just seeing this post.

Congratulations to the both of you. Stephen, I have not yet gotten to know you nearly as well as I would like to, but I have enjoyed our correspondence. I confess I have not met the lovely Samantha, however if she can put up with the quirks of a Sig Ep and a Journalist together she must be one special lady.

I wish you both many years of happiness.
