So it starts ... Sitting here on the eve of what should have been my final semester in college. But I'm not fooling anyone in saying that, I've been here for what feels like three and a half minutes, not three and half years.
With the fraternity, it will make two and half years. I've been slow to really figure out what it really means to be in a fraternity, not just a "frat." We've got a lot of challenges ahead, and I'm looking forward to them.
With the newspaper, I start my fourth semester as Executive Editor, my seventh on staff. I'm already giving a lot of thought to the fact that this is likely to last quite a while longer, given the Great Divide that exists in age and experience on my staff. Somehow I have to come up with a core group of people that I can trust to keep some of the progress we've made this last year going. I'm very optimistic that this can be done.
The final date and time that I leave all of this for the "real world" hasn't been set. I'm still hoping to say that it will be Spring of 2006. However, if the money allows, I'll likely be around until the following fall. I guess it's all really determined by if there's a job that would like me sooner rather than later.
My first class is at 8 a.m., so not making it to bed tonight would be a horrible idea. Time to get started.
